During our analysis we
learned that Harbor Freight Tools Union, NJ is having issues with quality
management and inventory management. The store is meeting competitive priority
of “cost” but it is unable to achieve customer satisfaction. Our recommendations
for Harbor Freight Tools is to first focus on the inventory management by
switching to “continuous review system” to fix the overstock inventory issues
so management can utilize the resources in a more productive way.
“Total Quality Management” is another recommendation for Harbor Freight
Tools. In order to satisfy internal and external customers, the management
should focus on employee involvement and continuous improvement to achieve the
highest level of customer satisfaction since TQM approach always focuses on the
customer. We also recommended training each employee 30 hours for a specific
job so they can not only provide better customer service but also feel their
skills are being properly utilized and appreciated.
